'Winning Ticket' - Acrylic on boxed canvas (90 x 51cm)
This painting was inspired by my first visit to the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2010. I had arrived late and couldn’t get close to the horses. All of a sudden, the lady in front of me began jumping up and down, waving her winning ticket in the air. I realised that I was standing right at the heart of the action!
'The Hot Favourite' - Acrylic on boxed canvas (90 x 51cm)
This is now my third painting depicting the blonde lady in her triumphant moment. I've always liked to show the backs of people, I believe it adds a layer of mystique to a painting; 'The Hot Favourite' lets you imagine the crowd's reaction such as the thoughts of the little girl being held, maybe watching a horse race for the first time?
The Blonde Lady
I often wonder what the expression of this lucky blonde lady may have been as her horse passes the finishing line and love that she's still holding the festival brochure, maybe just to double check that the hot favourite is her winning ticket!
